  • lvm: not painful at all

    Friday 2009-06-05 12:38 AM EDT

for the "tunebox" project, I needed to allocate some unused space on my workstation's hdd. I was dreading the process (and the "risk") until I got some help from gunn (owner of dataslab).

    category: python

I'm working on making new releases of "projectflow" (aka "workflow2") including a set of python-based cli tools. The tools have some dependencies on other packages I maintain ("getdate" and "ttyio") that I would like to be able to easily distribute.

my current plan is to distribute "ttyio" and "getdate" as python eggs.

  • site updated: demeter

    Friday 2009-04-24 06:23 PM EDT

Demeter has been under development for quite some time, and the development version has now moved to "production" status.

In order to increase display performance and maximize graceful handling of problems, the feeds are now converted to "entries" when they are polled instead of every time a page is displayed. As an added benefit, an archive of entries is possible and when a feed is viewed, all of the entries that demeter has seen since the cutover will be available.

Demeter makes use of a new technology called "bed" (bbs engine daemon). "bed" is a service that currently handles some aspects of the database work with more planned in the future. This will make sites like Teos simpler since they will no longer require configuration information for 3-4 databases.

Thanks to JCA for the help with the skin, to RHK for the "bed" concept, and DKC for help with testing.
